| 1802 Close Date BB-241, B-6 NGC 58 Nearly mint. Well struck. Nice luster. Lightly toned. There were 41, 650 coins minted for this date. This is the most plentiful die marriage in the 1798-1803 Draped Bust, Large Eagle Silver Dollar series, and survivors abound in type collections. Most numismatists, however, are limited to acquiring a more or less extensively worn survivor, as those that approach the Mint State threshold are quite scarce from a condition standpoint. The present example definitely saw very little in the way of circulation, and the devices escaped commerce without picking up more than a bit of light rub over the highpoints. NGC has certified five coins at this level with a mere eight finer. This encapsulation features a green CAC hologram label, indicating the coin has met CAC's grading standards. | |||||||||||||
